Rarity's Mane by IIXxQwErTyxXII

Fast Pony Portraits X by IIXxQwErTyxXII

Scanner is still useless at the moment but everything will be scanned eventually! As for the last 7 people that I owe requests to, they're all done and I'll start putting them up tomorrow! Some nice variety there, I had to draw scootaloo, rarity, derpy, pinkie, luna, trixie, and mane-iac. Probably would have never drawn mane-iac unless someone asked! They didn't take long, it's just that school and work will slow me down for now until december.

Anyway, for those intersted in a CANON PONY portrait sketch I'm offering 6 more! (If you got picked last time I can't draw for you again, I want more people to get a turn, sorry!) Same thing as last time, leave a comment telling me the pony you want and the expression you want me to give them. After a day or two I'll check the comments and randomly choose 6 "winners" and I'll draw their requests.

I'm not taking any at the moment, but I offer a small batch occasionally and I let everyone know with a journal post. Just be on the lookout for a journal update! I'm not sure when I'll be doing it again but 'll get to it eventually.

I hate to fill your head with hot air, but I really like your art style. It is really reminiscent of a time where cartoonists worked on paper instead of a tablet or an animation program. The traditional use of shadings/values with pencil and paper is definitely a nice break from the digital art that most artists use, and you do such a good job of it. It gives us an interesting texture that you'd be hard-pressed to achieve with Photoshop or GIMP. It also takes a lot of talent to keep the level of symmetry and line smoothness that you're able to achieve with what I'd call one of the hardest mediums to do so with.

Just keep up the good work. What you do is outstanding, especially for someone who's apparently not even 20. I know you get lots of encouraging comments, but maybe this one explaining just how what you're doing is special will stand out more.

Thanks a lot! Stuff like this makes my day, seriously. It's great to know that the practice is paying off, and that people still appreciate traditional work. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm gonna keep practicing. Gotta keep moving forward!

He made several, but I'm using "succesful drawing" the most right now and actuqlly working through the simplest one "fun with a pencil" to brush up on the basics some more. They're free (out of copyright or something, they're really old) so you might as well download them all. Seriously working with these will really make you improve.

Well I don't really have any secrets for them, lol, I just started out with them not too long ago. I guess it's important to be able to draw decently. That sounds obvious, but an important part of good drawing involves understanding the form of what you're drawing. That'll allow you to bring depth to a pic. (and makes it easier to paint/color)

Some drawing books by Andrew Loomis will be able to teach this to you much  better the  I could, check them out of you're intersted! Lots of important information in them.

Ha yeah I'm drawing 50 luna sketches and putting them all in a big grid! I'm around the 35 mark right, but I also plan on making colored versions of my favorites when I'm done with all 50.
